PULL&BEAR Sunset - 02 / MARCH / 2012

A lot of denim and a young and casual style.

Mood/Style: the girl who wears Red Valentino lives in a magical and very romantic fairytale world or one in which the past and present come together, where modernity goes hand in hand with the recovery of vintage stylistic periods. We see dresses in delicate and dusty shades such as powder and antique pink. But black and white also appears to cover short dresses with pronounced hips that are tight at the bust. Bows, ruches, flower appliqués, and transparencies express an idea of the femininity of a different era and, yet, very current at the same time. With a naive touch given by maxi headbands and wool stockings worn with pumpsLengths: mini and midiColours: black, antique pink, powder, bordeaux, white, pale pink, anthracite, dove, navy blue, cementFabrics: tulle, silk, jersey, taffeta, lace, satin, brocade, woolen cloth, woolen knit, feltShapes: hourglass, corolla, flared
Accessories: leather pumps with bows; figured wool stockings; nappa purses and carry cases; headbands with cloth appliqués; patent leather lace-up shoes; narrow leather belts; mini leather shoulder bags

TLFS: Black Friday // 23.03.12

TLFS: Black Friday // 23.03.12

I don’t understand why I lose interest in the things I’m passionate about when it starts to feel like being a chore, when it really should feel like I’m learning my craft. Maybe because instead of being taught by a professor like normal students do, we have to rely on board instructions and illustrations. If I didn’t get this far in this school, I would have moved. We have a number of professors who don’t even really teach so we don’t get our moneys worth with anything. So far I’ve only had ONE professor who actually teaches to the point where you won’t even have to ask for clarifications unless things get really confusing. I’ve made friends in this school, I’ve gotten to know the good professors, I’m in love with SDA but I’m getting tired of just not learning much unless I self-study or ask my classmates how to do things, who mind you, are as equally lost as I am. I suppose it’s a challenge and I’m getting used to this. I’m just losing interest and it scares me. I often question myself if this is really what I want to do in life. I think I know for sure that I don’t want to be a fashion designer. I don’t want to be a stylist. I don’t even write about fashion often, so how will that ever make me someone like Anna Wintour? I admire fashion. I’m a fan. But where will that take me? I need some reassuring, I need answers. I don’t know what I’m doing here. I just need a break from all this. I need the summer where I can re-think everything I’ve done. I know I’m made for this, but sometimes I feel like I’m someone else doing something she isn’t supposed to. I wish I could just wake up tomorrow morning and feel the way my batchmates feel about fashion design, because so far, I think I’m the only person in our course who thinks and feels this way.

Dilek Hanif Hate Couture Spring/Summer 2012
I’ll be honest, I’ve never heard of Dilek Hanif until I came across his collection on style.com and I instantly fell in love with his style and collection. I’m such a huge fan of whites, blacks and nudes right now because I feel as if it’s classic and can stand the test of time and it goes well with his designs and the intricate details.

Jean Paul Gaultier, Haute Couture Spring 2012

“After his spring 2012 couture show walked in Paris today, Jean Paul Gaultier said he believes “Amy Winehouse was truly a fashion icon,” and that he felt compelled to celebrate her iconic look because he doesn’t believe fashion magazines have done her justice. His models today wore beehives teased high, black beauty marks, and large, chunky hoop earrings — all signature elements of Winehouse’s look. An a capella band played versions of her music, and many of Gaultier’s designs seemed reminiscent of her slightly dishevelled, retro sportswear-style attire.”

Before I even read about the collection, I saw a backstage photo of model Frida Gustavsson getting her hair and make-up done, really huge beehive style pink hair and heavy winged eyeliner, and I instantly knew a designer was doing an Amy Winehouse tribute. No one does Haute Couture like Jean Paul Gaultier. Genius.

Elie Saab: Color Shock (Spring 2012 RTW)

Elie Saab is one of my favorite fashion designers ever. I find that most of his ensembles describe my style of fashion and designs. I love the Spring 2012 collection most especially for the colors used and how simple yet elegant the dresses are. Perfection.
